Tammy Bayer is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator.
This is not your mother's Lamaze Class. We do not teach the old breathing patterns and distractions techniques. Instead, we explore how your body works and how you can work with it to enhance your birth experience.
In this 4-week course, you will also get hands-on practice with relaxation techniques and comfort measures for easing the discomforts of pregnancy and labor. Find out more about options you have available to you at your birth place, whether it be hospital or home.
Learn about normal variations in birth and how to handle them. Pain Management techniques, both natural and medical are discussed. Interventions, including epidural, are explained, along with ways to avoid them or decide if they are medically needed for you, and how to ask questions to make informed decisions.
Class fee includes workbook and supplemental materials. Classes begin monthly. Please call for dates.
If you don't have time in your busy schedule to take a full childbirth class, consider this 2-session or one day Saturday class that covers just the basics. Also perfect as a refresher course. Private classes can be scheduled.
This class is designed for pregnant women and their partners. You will learn about the changes that occur in the woman’s body during pregnancy, staying healthy and low risk through proper diet and exercise, and pregnancy exercises and relaxation to keep you comfortable during your pregnancy. We also discuss how to select a childbirth education class that best meets your needs as you prepare for the birth of your baby.
We offer this unique class to help big brothers and sisters understand basic ideas surrounding birth and about their mother bringing home a new baby. Begin discussing how things will change before the baby comes home. Discuss what babies are like and their needs. Encourage the child to become involved in the new activities and decide on special times for the older child also. Extra material will be offered for a sibling who is attending a birth. This class is held regularly, or can be specially scheduled for your family.
Does baby proofing your home, choosing a car seat, and buying safe products have you overwhelmed? Do you want to know how to make your child’s environment safe for baby? How about safety while traveling? If you are expecting a baby or already caring for a little one, you don’t want to miss this! We can also schedule a special class for your daycare or center.

Learn to "wear" your baby. Babies receive many benefits from being held close to their caregivers. Most babies are calmer, easier to sooth, breastfeeding may be smoother, and parents learn baby's cues faster. Attend this FREE class to see a variety of carriers and learn to use them properly. If you can’t attend a class, set up an appointment for personalized instruction. Babies are welcome, and make trying on slings more realistic!
A presentation on modern cloth diapering. This is an opportunity to learn about the benefits of cloth diapering to the environment, your child and your budget, as well as see and touch the various diapering options.
An educational, hands-on experience for parents who want to learn more about the care of their newborn. This class will cover normal newborn characteristics, changes in the family structure and daily routines, basic infant care, and much more.
Using Dr. Harvey Karp's method you will find ways to strengthen the bond between you and your baby, to help create a happier, healthier, and more loving family. Learn to create a womblike atmosphere for your newborn outside the womb, to access the calming reflex that will help baby quickly sooth fussing and crying, understand the 5 S's to turn on your babies calming reflex, and learn how the cuddle cure calms even colicky babies.
Massage helps your baby in many ways. It assists digestion, aids in sleep patterns, and helps baby and parents bond. A good time to use this technique is anytime after your healthy newborn is two weeks old. Set up an individualized class, register with a friend, or join in on a group class.
Using sign language with your baby has many benefits. Babies who sign are less frustrated, speak earlier, have higher IQ's (10-12 points higher), and develop larger vocabularies than those who don't. Our class teaches parents and caregivers to use signs so the baby will begin to use them even before they can talk. A good time to start using signs is at 6 months. We offer two classes to meet the needs and interests of all families:
Level 1 – Basic instruction in why to signs, how to introduce signs, and which signs to start with. Signs taught will include signs for health and safety words, family members, animals, foods, and other fun and useful words.
Level 2 – Further your and your child’s understanding of sign language through our level 2 class. This class expands upon the vocabulary taught in the Level 1 class with more animals, foods, clothing, letters, numbers, and fun signs. Integrate signing with books, songs and activities too.
Babies are welcome to attend class if you feel that your learning experience won’t be compromised. Classes can also be scheduled for your daycare or center.
